What a weekend! Over Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June, our young people joined hundreds of others from across Durham Scouts for the Big Day Out at Moor House Adventure Centre – and we were lucky enough to have members there both days.

Saturday was all about the Cubs. Our crew arrived buzzing with excitement, and it didn’t take long before they were racing down the toboggan run, scrambling up the cube climbing tower, and bouncing away on the inflatables. There were traditional Scouting skills to try, new activities to discover, and plenty of chances to meet Cubs from other groups.

Then on Sunday, it was the Beavers’ turn. The site was transformed into a hive of energy as 500 eager Beavers filled the fields. From the moment the opening ceremony wrapped up, our youngest members were busy exploring everything on offer – tackling challenges, having fun in the sunshine, and enjoying that special mix of adventure and friendship that makes Scouting days so memorable.

Two days, 1,000 young people, and countless smiles – it was an amazing showcase of what Scouting is all about. Huge thanks go to the volunteers, organisers, and activity providers who made the weekend possible.

We can’t wait to see what the next Big Day Out has in store – but for now, we’ve got plenty of happy memories (and probably a few tired feet!).
