1st Chopwell Scout Group have done it again! For the second year running, our Scouts have triumphed at Blaydon & District’s Annual First Aid Competition — taking both 1st and 2nd place in this year’s event held in Muggleswick, County Durham.
The competition, a proud tradition dating back to 1928, challenges Scouts with realistic first aid scenarios as they navigate a circular route. This year’s event tested skills like CPR, treating bleeds, managing sprains, and more — all while encouraging teamwork, leadership, and staying calm under pressure.
A Winning Team… Again!

We’re especially proud of our 2025 champions, who also took the top spot in 2024 — showing incredible consistency, skill, and dedication. To have not one but two Chopwell teams in the top two positions is a huge achievement for our young people and volunteers.
Prepared. Confident. Ready.
At 1st Chopwell, we’re all about helping young people gain skills for life. First aid is a big part of that — it’s not just about knowing what to do in an emergency, but also about confidence, leadership and looking out for others.
A massive well done to everyone who took part in this year’s event. You’ve made us proud and proven what it means to be prepared.
